FAQ's

Is coaching the right thing for you, to push your life or career forward, and start making progress towards your goals? Below you will find the answers to some of our frequently asked questions.

1. What is professional coaching?

ICF (International Coach Federation) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
  • Encourage client self-discovery
  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
  • Hold the client responsible and accountable

This process helps clients dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential.

2. How do I know whether coaching is the right thing for me?

No matter what you've already achieved, meeting the next challenge means finding new and better ways. Powerful coaching opens new perspectives, where even the tiniest shifts lead to powerful breakthrough.

My coaching is not for everyone and requires courage and commitment. Our coaching sessions are based on authenticity, mutual respect, trust, challenge and accountability.

3. How long does a coach work with an individual?

My clients and I partner on a journey of discovery to uncover what matters most to them. I work with my clients on a one-one basis, and listen rather than instruct, to allow the client to figure out their goals or next steps through  . My coaching is not for everyone and requires courage and commitment.

4. Will I be charged on an hourly Rate?

Yes, each session runs typically for an hour, on a one-one basis. Most of my clients will agree with me at the start of their program as to how many sessions they feel they need, and tend to range between 5-8 sessions.

5. How is coaching distinct from other service professions?

Consulting: Consulting approaches vary widely, however the assumption is that the consultant will diagnose problems and prescribe or implement solutions. With coaching, we allow individuals or teams to generate their own solutions, with the coach supplying supportive, discovery-based approaches and frameworks.

Mentoring: A mentor is an expert who provides wisdom and guidance based on his or her own experience. Mentoring may include advising, counseling and coaching. The coaching process does not include advising or counseling, and focuses instead on individuals or groups setting and reaching their own objectives.

6. How long until I should expect to see some results?

Some results can be as immediate as the second session, however some greater goals may take longer. Results are variant on the clients dedication and commitment to achieving their goals, and open-mindedness towards reaching out for support and guidance.
